POSITION OVERVIEW: The Buyer is responsible for providing an uninterrupted flow of materials at greatest value to meet production schedules, in accordance with CEC documented procedures and instructions
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process purchase orders manually and through MRP system.
- Negotiate orders and/or contracts to achieve the best value.
- Ensure materials/parts and services are available and executed on time with expected quality.
- Maintain systems to ensure the accurate accounting and usage of all materials.
- Analyze all MRP reports.
- Oversee warranty claims with vendors (Non-Conformance Reports and Quality Control Review).
- Source new parts and suppliers.
- Other duties as required.
- Complete all applicable quality records.
- Perform work in accordance with CEC documented policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- PMAC Certification II or equivalent.
- Degree or diploma is an asset.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing required.
PHYSICAL
- Regularly required to stand walk or sit; use hands to operate computers, office equipment; use vision and hearing dealing with communication and office materials.
LANGUAGE
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to read, interpret and explain drawings.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to analyze and communicate transportation mode instructions as well as import/export instructions that achieves best value for organizations.
- Ability to write reports and effective business correspondence.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Proficient with use of Microsoft Office Suite.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/PERMITS

- Have an excellent knowledge of purchasing practices.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Have an eye for detail and pride in one’s work.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to multi-task.
